Semiconductor Acceleration Sensor

Tilted plastic mold package employed for incorporation in in-dash car navigation systems.
MAS1912P
Tilted plastic mold package employed for incorporation in in-dash car navigation systems.
Overview
We developed the MAS1912P semiconductor acceleration sensor just right for in-dash car navigation systems' "slope angle detection system." The plastic mold package (*1) with tilted exterior form contributes to more compact and lighter car navigation system and allows for automated mounting in the system.
*1:  Package sealed with epoxy commonly used for semiconductors.
Features
Tilted plastic mold contributes to more compact and lighter car navigation systems
To compensate for inclination in installation in the dashboard, the plastic mold package for acceleration sensor itself is tilted in the opposite direction of the dashboard. A special circuit board for the acceleration sensor becomes no more needed, allowing the car navigation system main unit to be more compact and lighter.
Automated mounting on circuit board is becoming possible, contributing to improved productivity.
The lead length and mold form are made laterally asymmetrical, and the package is tilted, so the package top face is parallel to the mounting surface. Circuit board mounting that was done manually so far could be automated like for general purpose ICs, contributing to improved productivity of the car navigation system production process.

Applications
Car navigation system
Car navigation systems are tending to shift from the main unit being laid flat under a sheet or in the trunk to in-dash types that are installed in the dashboard.
