TFT-LCD *1 modules have come to be widely used in a variety of applications. In recent years, new demand in outdoor application has increased with high brightness for good visibility, and to operate in severe environment. Also. LED *2 backlight demand has grown as an alternative light source to replace the mainstream CCFL *3 backlight because of LED's advantages, like being mercury free, and containing no high voltage components that may require safety and noise countermeasures. Mitsubishi Electric already provides 5.7-inch, 6.5-inch, 8.4-inch, 10.4-inch, and 12.1-inch color TFT-LCD modules with LED backlights today. We have developed 15-inch TFT-LCD modules to support applications like ATM *4.

*1: Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display
*2: Light emitting diodes
*3: Cold cathode fluorescent lamps
*4: Automatic Teller Machine
Features
Market leading high bright, long-life backlight and inverter-free white LED backlight
By optimizing optical and heat emission designs, Mitsubishi Electric achieved market leading high brightness and contrast ratio (AA150XT11 has achieved highest brightness in the market with 1500cd/m² for 15.0-inch TFT-LCD module *5). High brightness performance provides excellent visibility for products used in outdoors or in a bright environment. Backlight life has improved 120% from 50,000 hours to 60,000 hours (minimum) to be suitable solution for long life customer products. These products are inverter free, which contributes to lower total product cost. Additionally, by incorporating Mitsubishi Electric's original color conversion technology, called Natural Color Matrix *6, the modules are capable of displaying images with increased vividness and clarity.

*5: Applicable to a 15.0 TFT LCD Module using white LED backlights only.
*6: Natural Color Matrix: Mitsubishi original circuit technology to convert back the lost colors caused by typical display characteristics to similar color of its original natural image.
Market-leading wide operating temperature range
By optimizing mechanical and circuit design and components, we were able to achieve market leading wide operation temperature range of -20°C ~ +70°C. These TFT-LCD modules are suitable for applications outdoors and in other severe environments.
Compatibility with previous TFT-LCD modules
Compared to the company's previous models using CCFL, no changes have been made to the new modules' height and width, or to where signal input connectors are connected and mounting hole, making replacement easy.
