Outline
As industrial equipment applications increase, TFT-LCDs are required to work under all conditions, both indoors and outdoors. The need for improved visibility when used in bright locations, especially outdoors during the daytime, has triggered a growing demand for increased TFT-LCD brightness. We have developed two types of TFT-LCD modules, the12.1 type and 15.0 type, by employing the XGA edge light method to ensure high visibility even the brightest environment.

12.1 type TFT-LCD module with XGA edge light system AA121XJ02
Its upgraded backlight system, that has gone from two light sources to four light sources, combined with the optimal optical design has improved light use efficiency to achieve a luminance of 1000 cd/m2*1, the highest in the industry for a 12.1 type XGA edge light method and 3.1 times higher than any of our other products*2. A combination of a high contrast ratio (700:1) and wide view angles (up 45K, down 75K, left 60K, right 60K) that is the top for their class in the industry ensures improved visibility.  
*1: cd/m2: candela per square meter, a unit of surface brightness.
*2: Compared with our ASA121XH01 with a luminance of 320 cd/m2.
15.0 type TFT-LCD module with XGA edge light system AA150XN08
Using a conventional backlight system comprised of four light sources, we have improved the light use efficiency by optimizing the optical design, to reach a luminance of 1000 cd/m2 *3, the highest in industry for the 15.0 type XGA edge light method and 1.8 times higher than any of our other products*3. A combination of a high contrast ratio (650:1) and wide view angles (up 50K, down 60K, left 75K, right 75K), the top for their class in the industry, ensures improved visibility.

Guaranteed operation in a wide temperature range (from -20 to +70oC) while achieving bright color images (for both types of product)
We have been working on maintaining and improving operation guarantee in a wide temperature range at the component level. We have successfully achieved operation guarantee in a temperature range as wide as before (from -20 to 70oC). A newly designed panel material reduces deterioration of image display due to a higher panel surface temperature when used in an outdoor environment under direct sunlight. Also, display color number selection is made possible from 260,000 and 16,770,000, as is conventionally done. Combined with the NCM (Natural Color Matrix), our color conversion technology for more realistic bright color display, natural image display matching that of high definition monitors for PCs has been built into our industrial LCDs.

Perfect for industrial applications such as automatic teller machines (ATMs) and outdoor display machines.
Future Deployment
Our new lines of ultra high intensity LCDs with guaranteed visibility even when used outdoors will make outdoor applications of LCDs possible, expanding the possibilities of LCD usages to wider areas.
